The study of generation of timing by the use of Rhythm Controllers

For improvised human communication, it is important to share the sense of time and space and to adjust the timing between each other. So to see how the people are generating their timings, we decided to look into the rhythm, which is created in one’s inside before an action is done, and used this to express the avatar’s movement as the movement of the hand in the Kendo fight system. This rhythm controller is a special controller which enables a single set of avatar’s movement to be expressed in many different hand movement sets. By doing an experiment with this system, we found that when the creation of improvised timing is happening, an entrainment occurs with many different rhythms.
